Photo taken at the Water-Lily Garden within the Chinese/Japanese Gardens which were reopened last week after a 5-yr closure since 2019 for a major makeover.

There were many species of water lilies in the garden. The ‘King of Siam Purple’ species shown here have rich purple-coloured petals with a bright yellow centre. They are day blooming and bee-attracting.

Most of the water lilies seemed to be a magnet for bees. But I was surprised to see so many bees in this one particular flower growing near the edge of the pond …
