The Huecar River Gorge
The gorges of the Huécar and Júcar rivers, as they pass through the city of Cuenca, form two canyons with a width of over 1000 metres and a difference in level of over 200 metres in several areas. The escarpments and erosion caused by both rivers have sculpted a very spectacular landscape from a geomorphological point of view. This is reason enough for its inclusion in the Spanish inventory of sites of geological interest (LIG). In the Huécar River Gorge, the role of the orchards (called “hocinos”) stands out, which traditionally formed the basis of the supply of fruit and vegetables to the city.
