Sculpture of King Alfonso VIII, work of the artist from Cuenca Javier Barrios. Made of bronze, it is about three meters high and sits on a stone pedestal. After a tough and prolonged siege that lasted nine long months, Alfonso VIII conquered the city of Cuenca on September 21, 1177, overcoming the resistance of the Muslims trapped behind the walls and taking the city.
