A few weeks ago I came across a field of glorious sunflowers. I simply had to stop. They were calling out and begging to be photographed. They had just started to open. There's nothing that shouts summer quite so eloquently as a field full of these big dinner-plate flowers standing to attention in the morning sun. In the area of Baix Empordà, around Torroella de Montgrí, you can find a lot of sunflowers fields, which are spectacular in July.
