Recently, President Joe Biden gave an impassioned speech at Morehouse College's graduation ceremony. He deliberately chose the location for his appearance in Georgia's capital Atlanta because the private university, founded by African American Baptists, is the alma mater of legendary civil rights activist Martin Luther King. He was my hero, Biden told the predominantly Black graduates of the university. After King's assassination in 1968, Biden gave up his job at a fancy law firm to work as a public defender and district councilman for the cause of the civil rights movement.
