The Vleeshuisbrug is a bridge over the Leie in Ghent. The bridge is part of a connection called the Kleine Vismarkt, which connects the Kraanlei and the rest of the Patershol, the Sint-Veerleplein with the old fish market and the Gravensteen with the then Vismarkt, at the current Groentenmarkt. The name refers to the adjacent Groot Vleeshuis The Kleine Vismarkt ends at the Groentenmarkt between Viskopershuis and the Vleeshuis. The first mention of a stone bridge at that location dates from 1274. The bridge was then referred to as 's Gravenbrug. In 1542, houses were built on the bridge for traders, houses that were present there until the 17th century . In 1659, the 's Gravenbrug was referred to as Kraanbrug (after the large crane on the Kraanlei). To allow larger ships to pass through, the stone bridge was partly replaced by a wooden swing bridge between 1751 and 1754. In 1794, the current name of Vleeshouwersbrug was used (but also the Beenhouwersbrug and Beenhuisbrug). The bridge was worked on in 1801 and 1876.
