Tuktuk drivers released after they refute woman’s sexual assault claims

Police have released without charge 2 Phnom Penh tuktuk drivers who were the subject of an allegation of sexual assault by a woman.

At 4:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a woman decided to order a tuktuk to take her home after a night out.

She alleged that the driver, instead of taking her home, took her to a deserted part of Street 271, Sangkat O Bek Kam, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh and then behaved improperly to her.

The woman also stated that the man called accomplices to assault the woman.

The woman then reported the incident and details of her alleged assailants to Sen Sok District Police.

Upon investigation, the police detained 2 men.

The 2 men stated that the woman’s allegations were false and that she had been drunk and confused on the night in question.

After questioning both sides, the woman admitted to being intoxicated and withdrew the charge to end the case.

The police then released the 2 men and allowed them to return home.

Phnom Penh tuktuk driver sought after alleged gang-rape attempt on female reveller

Police are attempting to trace a tuktuk driver who, it is alleged, tried to take advantage of a woman early yesterday morning by inviting accomplices to assault her sexually.

At 4:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a woman decided to order a tuktuk to take her home after a night out.

She alleges that the driver, instead of taking her home, took her to a deserted part of Street 271, Sangkat O Bek Kam, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh and then behaved improperly to her.

The woman also states that the man called accomplices to assault the woman.

Luckily, the woman was able to escape and took the license number of the tuktuk as well as the name of the driver.

The details have been passed to police, with Colonel Hour Meng Wang, Sen Sok District Police Inspector, confirming authorities are investigating.
