Dave - yes I did. I wasn't clear in my comment, that I like this shot much better. It has an abstract feel for me. The other, "reverse" is more snapshot like.

I think a full B&W would work, but I certainly like the feel of the box and blacktop the way it is now.

Did you look at the reverse image in Pending, Jim? This is our mailbox. Mail (including small packages) is dropped through the upper door in the front and falls into the large chamber, which can be accessed from the front (streetside) and rear (yardside).

I prefer it to the version in Pending because of the pattern of bumps that is enhanced by their shadows. This was shot in late afternoon. I'm not sure the same effect would occur in reverse in the morning. Wouldn't converting it to black & white also remove the green grass (our neighbor's) as a distraction?

It's not such a fancy mailbox, just a standalone lockable. Think of it as a solo version of those community mailboxes found in many, um, communities. If memory serves, it is made by a company called Oasis. I believe they are available at Hope Depot.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the USPS doesn't complain it's too low. It was fine for years until a truck hit it. Digging it out and resetting it lowered it about six inches. We still have the old-style mail delivery trucks. I guess it's still a comfortable reach (it's a bit low for me, but I'm not complaining).

I like this better as an abstract. I might desaturate the green grass to fully accomplish that though.
Vs the pending, this captures the imagination - what is it? Why?

I really like the image in Pending much better....even for the inside outside....I like seeing the green of your lawn more than the asphalt....though I grant you, this image is more abstract....it reminds me very strongly of La Defense in Paris...now that I note it, I am sure you will also. So this is good too, but in a different way. Traveller

That's really a box. For packages or just front and rear access?

If that’s your home mailbox it’s might fancy looking, designed for package deliveries.

I still give credit to Ken for the concept. I went looking for his photo the other day and couldn’t find it before I got pulled away to do something else and never got back to looking. Paul
