a filmy-fern

Hymenophyllum sp
Liffey Falls

Filmy ferns are so named because their fronds are just one cell thick. As a consequence they are prone to exposure and are found in only the most sheltered places, often growing as epiphytes on tree-fern trunks in deep gullies.

Such an interesting tree fern, never seen anything like it with those flimsy filmy fronds.

so it is more delicate than it appears...a fine shot to illustrate it's cascading form..

A very unique fern and one you'd have to know about to find.

Very nicely composed shot of the fern in perfect light.
