Moorea Village

The hotel we stayed at on Moorea. My print photo says we were there “by default” but not really sure what I meant by that.

In 1987 we stopped in Tahiti on our way home after our two-year posting to Canberra. Needless to say, it was quite a change from Australia and a pleasant interlude before facing life in Washington, D.C.

Interesting notation. Did you have A/C??? We stayed here https://www.cntraveler.com/story/the-story-behind-the-worlds-first-overwater-bungalows and had to book almost 6 months in advance.... No A/C but plenty of humidity. Actually, too much relentless, never ending humidity day and night. That's why I was VERY happy to leave Moorea early to go to the main island to a hotel (same one where you stayed) that was more Westernized & had A/C & made restful sleep possible. Plus, I LOVED that stunning black sand beach next to the Tarhara'a. We had originally planned to spend our entire honeymoon on Moorea. Beautiful island. However, I enjoyed my view of Moorea from the Tahara'a far more than our stay on Moorea. Is your photo the entire lodge or just the dining area? The Bali Hai had a similar dining room/lounge, but the guest rooms were all individual huts.
