The white dot with a green halo is comet 12P/Pons-Brookes in the western sky just after sunset. Too much light from the sun at this time for the tail to be seen.

Another attempt planned for May 9th after astronomical night time

Edit: May 9th did not happen. It was 100% cloud which remained for 2 weeks. So no Aurora Australis possible from sunspot 3664 unless I drove for more than 9 hours. NOT happy
