1984

Ollantaytambo, Peru

a mere forty years ago, in 1984, two of us spent a few weeks in the Andes, checking out historical sites, and the current flavour of the area...before climbing to the old Inca sun temple, a stroll round the town of Ollantaytambo revealed clear indications of centuries old Inca masonry supporting contemporary buildings, and one of many stone channels bringing water down from higher elevations

A great image of Ollantaytambo, superbly composed. Great timing to include the woman. The clarity and the tones are remarkable for a scanned image, in particular the wall on the right, so neat !

Interesting to see the Inca masonry in newer buildings, and love that you caught the girl in the shot too.

I well remember this architectural style, with Spanish built on top of Incan rockwork, from nearby Cuzco. A scan presumably; it has come up very well.
