Met a friend in the National Botanical Gardens but unfortunately it was too
wet to explore the flowers so we stayed in the coffee shop

looks like there are indoor options at the botanic gardens, which might well have offered shelter as well as exotic plants...your well aligned image does whet the curiosity..
