Resident’s shock as Phnom Penh powerlines combust

Local people were shocked as a powerlines spontaneously combusted in Phnom Penh yesterday.

The blaze took place at around 3:30 pm on April 3, 2024 at the checkpoint with light box P1977.220 in front of Kidcare School (pagoda entrance). Samrong Andet) in Krong Khmer Village, Sangkat Kork Khleang, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

Witnesses described how they saw smoke, and then flames, on the powerlines.

The Office of Fire Prevention and Rescue of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police sent a fire truck to intervene and contact the electricity to cut off the electricity.

According to police sources, the wiring, including the meter box fitted to the light pole, was completely damaged by the fire.
