After eating a portion of a large brown rat, the owl cached the rest in the crook of a fallen tree. Cleaned its beak on the bark and kept opening its beak like you see in the photo.
Thanks Chuck. The owl doesn't do much at this location but for one magical 30 minutes on a drizzly Saturday, it was action non-stop. There were at least a dozen people there watching it hunting, flying, perched and eating.
