National Portrait Gallery, American Art Museum

The orchid exhibit took place in the courtyard between these two Smithsonian museums, which take up an entire city block in downtown Washington, D. C.

*****

We went to the “Orchids: Amazing Adaptations” exhibit in the courtyard of the Smithsonian’s American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, presented by the US Botanic Garden and Smithsonian Gardens. The display was quite creative this year, with large models of various kinds of orchids interspersed among live orchids as well as colorful backdrops for some of the flowers.

Wide angle shots from down low are very effective. I watch art videos on the Perspective Channel on YouTube with
Waldemar Januszczak and many of the shots are videoed with a wide angle lens. I love his patter, too, and often will lie in bed listening just to hear what he says, without watching the tv!
