Alamogordo, New Mexico

dating from 1899, the Alamogordo Lumber Company milled wood from the nearby Sacramento Mtns, producing lumber and railroad ties...the rise of a road system undid the enterprise as railroads lost shipping business to trucks, and wood demand dropped
