Over the past month or so I have been experiencing a renewed interest in astrophotography. Our nephew Kevin does it a lot and has some amazing photographs just like the ones you see in the astronomy books. I have dabbled in astrophotography. On a trip to Moab I went out on a beautiful night and just faked it with good results for a total beginner. So I got to reading up on the matter and figured I would go out to Houston Astronomical Society Observatory (a big field with lots of cement pads to mount your gear.) I also decided I wasn't going to buy a single piece of equipment for this foray. Today's photo is of my rig, Canon 5D Mark IV and 100-400 L series lens. I did a couple sets of exposures of the Orion Nebula (M42). I am going to properly process them when I get home tomorrow.
