Tundra Swan

Lake Frederick, Virginia

We had five on the west arm of Lake Frederick yesterday, but fishing boats scared them off. This one must have come back today.
Took this image from our open back porch using a spotting scope at full magnification and a point-and-shoot camera (DigiScoping).
I know if I tried hiking down to the lake's shoreline I'd spook this beautiful swan and he/she seems to be settled in for the night.

Fantastic digiscoping shot from your porch. The swan does look comfortable.

It sounds like this is a great species to have turn up at Lake Frederick.
