The Cellarette, sometimes called an Antique Wine Cooler, was a very important piece of furniture in the late 18th and early 19th Century. It is a receptacle in which wine or liquor was stored in before use at the dining table.
For instance, there is a Federal Cellarette on display in the collection at The Diplomatic Reception Rooms, U.S. Department of State.
