This young owlet was trying to climb this tree to get up off the forest floor. It used all the tools at its disposal - talons for stepping up, beak to grab on the the bark and wings for balance and uplift. After several tumbles back to the ground, it finally made it to a horizontal branch for it to perch on and rest. Mom was closely watching at all time. Here it is taking a breather and posing for the camera. Only, the smile is missing.
