I took this late afternoon yesterday when it was dark in the woods, and so used a flash. Not a great photo but thought it interesting for the almost 3-D effect given by the flash.

indeed, between the contrast of Cleo against the snow, and the use of flash, there is a sort of diorama effect at work...it might be worth trying flash when shooting an insect...perhaps the result will be surprising..
