The Holy Mary and Holy Spirit Hospital was a spacious complex - originally outside the city - with a courtyard that was bordered to the east by the city wall.
It was founded in 1280, and from 1380 onwards there were extensive renovations and new buildings. Through many donations it became rich and owned extensive properties.
