Common Fiber Vase or Earth Fan Fungus
Found mostly under conifers, especially pine. It forms spreading clusters that are fan-shaped or in rosettes. The caps are dark brown or gray-brown with white margins and may feel and look velvety. The undersurface is bald and gray-brown. It is a summer and fall species but in mild climates appears year-round. There is no odor. The caps range from 2-4cm and are quite thin, only 2-3mm thick, but tough. Not edible
