After hunting for weeks for someplace that has the new COVID vaccination (introduced on September 11th), we finally found a drug store in another city that is offering the vaccine. The drive to get our shots was worth it. Our local health department and hospitals and doctors’ offices currently do not have the vaccine… So, it took a bit of research and daily phone calls to find someplace that did have it. It wasn’t an easy search.
Appointments were also very limited. However, we were able to snag an appointment and get our shots today. I feel we are lucky to have gotten vaccinated.
Obviously, we will probably be in the minority of Americans – just as we were with last Fall’s booster - to get this new COVID shot; despite the CDC recommending it for all. My husband is in the high risk group for a bad outcome if he gets COVID. Vaccination helps lessen that risk. So, we feel that taking advantage of any health aide that we can is the way to go. Too bad that all the manufactured negativity concerning COVID shots (erroneously being tied by many to their politics) are scaring so many who would benefit by vaccination.
Maybe someday, there will be a longer lasting shot that really prevents COVID.
But for now, this is the best we got.
Some protection is better than none.
