PARISH CHURCH OF SANT MARTÍ
The dedication to Saint Martin, the favorite saint of the Carolingian kings, evidences the antiquity of the parish church of Peralada, later confirmed by archaeological excavations, which discovered the plan of a small pre-Romanesque temple from the beginning of the 9th century. Today, remains of the Romanesque temple, consecrated in 1208, and the 14th century bell tower are visible, testifying to the intention to build a large Gothic temple that did not succeed. The current building is of neoclassical style, and was built at the end of the 18th century.
