Last week, a couple days after her 15th birthday I thought we were going to have to say goodbye to Della.
For her not to get up and move for around 18 hours was just not like her.
She was barely able to walk in and out of the office when I put up a photo of her last week.
This was yesterday morning.
She and my husband had just gotten back from a short morning walk.
I positioned myself by the front door and she took off at a run when she saw me.
How is this even possible? To go from hardly moving to looking happy and running.
It has to be the ketamine injection she received…it is also known as Special K on the streets.
Della can’t have any anti-inflammatories drugs like Rimadryl, Deramaxx or Galaprant until we test her blood again next week.
With her high liver numbers and elevated kidney values the doctors didn’t feel it was safe to give her those.
She is just on the ketamine injection once a month and Gabapentin three times a day.
Don’t let her fool you here, she is not playing frisbee or chasing balls anymore but I am so happy she seems to feel comfortable and happy.
I am very thankful for the doctors that I work with and the excellent care they have given Della for the past 15 years.
