The Mallol house was built by the master builders Angel Marés Fonseya and his son Joan Marés i Marés in 1906 following the modernist style, fully in vogue during that time. It is one of the few examples of this type of architecture that Roses has. The Mallol house belongs to the small group of buildings that remain from the extension that was built on the seafront at the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th.The house was built by Barcelona doctor Joan Mallol Padrosa , originally from Cadaqués, in order to spend the summer there with his family. This building has also received the name Casa Cambó because of the sentimental relationship of the Catalan politician and patron, Francesc Cambó, with the Mallols' daughter, Mercè, whom he married in 1945 in Buenos Aires.
