Jagged Ambush Bug. The larval stage was in a box with tomates from the garden. The adult was on a sunflower.

Slocan B.C.

BugGuide suggested the larva covers itself with sand and debris to fool passing insects when it pounces and eats them. The adult has massive front legs to hold prey and a large proboscis to inject digestive enzymes.
