Lanikai Beach, on the Kailua-side was the first beach I stepped on when I lived two minutes away in Kailua in 1976.
The two islands are called the Mokulua or "mokes". Water temperatures are generally 75–80 °F (24–26 °C). It has extremely soft powdery clean white sand. Hence the name 'Lanikai' which means "heavenly sea".
