Er Grah.

Locmariaquer

To the right of the image the Great Broken Menhir of Er Grah, dates from the 5th millennium (older than the pyramids of Egypt). It is the largest menhir in Europe: 18.5 m high when erected, estimated mass between 270 and 330 tons. The Menhir was broken into four fragments for reasons not yet explained.
In the foreground the entrance of the cairn «An Dol March'hand» («Aisle-table-horse» in Breton - a mysterious name -and improperly named «La Table des Marchand» (« Table of the Merchant » without S) by a passing painter) covers a vast dolmen.

It is amazing what the ancient civilizations could do with construction.

a compelling image, and clearly a neolithic site to savour...the dolmen La Roche aux Fees, a bit inland at Esse, must have been built about the same time, and is also worth a visit..
