A very difficult hibiscus to photograph in all her full beauty.
In hot weather, she remains "fresh" for less than an hour tops after the bud opens. Usually less.
After that, her petals droop. There is also no way to know when this will happen; so, timing can be everything. In very hot weather, the wilt is almost immediate. Positioning of the flowers between the dense leaves often also makes her blooms difficult to photograph. The flowers frequently are half hidden.
Today, everything came together.
This is really such a pretty, unusual blue hibiscus; often producing several blooms at a time.
However, like many other hibiscuses, she can be surprising at times: https://pbase.com/britestar/image/173040763

"One special thing about award winner 'Fire and Ice' is its dynamically beautiful eye. The 6-8" blue flowers light up with a huge red and white sparkling, swirling eye zone. The parents of 'Fire and Ice' are 'Crème de Cacao' and a big gray HVH seedling. The bush is medium sized and upright. Released from HVH in 2012. Hybridizer: C. Black"
