I Learn Something New Every Day!

I love to study, especially the Bible. But I also learn much in other ways too. For example, through photography I have learned so much through 'The Book of Nature'. Today I learned a bit about Foxgloves I didn't know before.

"Digitalis purpurea, the foxglove or common foxglove, is [1] a toxic species of flowering plant in the plantain family Plantaginaceae,[2] native to and widespread throughout most of temperate Europe.[3] It has also naturalised in parts of North America and some other temperate regions. The plant is a popular garden subject, with many cultivars available. It is the original source of the heart medicine digoxin (also called digitalis or digitalin)." [Wikipedia]

The plant is also poisonous, so be careful!

The velvety black background is the perfect foil for the digitalis' bloom. What an outstanding shot, Vern! v.
