My mother... and beloved matriarch of the family.
This painting was created using a photo of her at Christmas where she was surrounded
by the throng of her family, and she was at her happiest.
She gave birth to 7 children and had 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren. She wrote poetry (see Amazon.com - "Just Memories")
while enduring the depression, World War II, where she lost one son and had another son
suffer for 8 months in a German POW camp, and became a widow at age 49.
With only a social security check to live on, she converted the second floor
of her home into a 1-bedroom apartment to make ends meet.
She raised chickens whose eggs and meat we sold to help.
We had little, but I was never hungry or ill-clothed and we always knew
we were loved and encouraged at every step we took.
