23 Hey, I'm Working Here

...note he/she is missing their right hind leg...but with some planning and patience I was able to save this animal and successfully got them outside in the night grass full of dew. I hope they are well. Traveller

Many, many years ago my mother was at a party in New York on a high floor of a building. The windows were open, and in flew a praying mantis. A few party goers were scared but all knew it was something special. So someone called the humane society (or New York equivalent). The person who answered said to capture it gently, toss it out a window and close the curtains. Apparently no one at the party knew that this special insect could fly.

Why are insects classified as animals?
Insects are animals. Like all animals, insects are multicellular organisms that respire using oxygen, reproduce sexually, eat and move. Insects belong to the animal class Insecta, which, with around one million living species, is by far the biggest class within the animal kingdom.

Animal??? Not sure I would have been overly concerned about it’s survival had it found a way into my home.

Since I started spraying using pro grade chemicals for pest control rather than the big box store products like “Ortho Bug B Gon” insect problems are non exist in and around my home. It seriously was a game changer. I recently added a new weapon to my arsenal called a “mosquito sniper” where you combine your leaf blower and an typical pump up sprayer with a special attachment and you mist your shrubs and vegetation with skeeter killer, actually I use the same chemical I use for the ants and other creepy crawling pests. Kind of like the Mosquito Joe guys if you’ve ever watched them treat a property. Paul
