Still playing with our new Olympus Tough TG-6 camera today. This time it was exploring the three basic shooting modes: A, P and AUTO. Almost all my shooting is in A (aperture priority) mode. It has been that way since my first camera where you had a choice. A mode has the most control. P mode (Professional? I don't know) has a lot less. It takes over the shutter and aperture and the ISO, apparently. One thing that is still adjustable is exposure compensation. That is important. In AUTO mode you are just a monkey pushing a button. I have never explored that mode before. My target today was my van, of course. The AUTO setting turned out to be worthless. There was a lot of blown pixels. I looked at the EXIF and saw the exposure compensation was at 0.0 while the other two were at -0.7 where I set it. I looked at them in Lightroom Develop and highlighted the blown pixels. P mode on top, AUTO on the bottom. Learned my lesson. Leave AUTO for the monkeys.
