The parish church of St. Peter (Esglesia de Sant Pere) is located in the outskirts of Petra and is in late Gothic style.
The construction began in 1583 and completed in 1766 and the church was consecrated in 1730.
The upper part of the side walls includes seven large semicircular arches.
The 31-meter-high bell tower was built in 1669, and it has an outstanding pyramid on top.
Petra is best known for being the birthplace (in 1713) of a famous missionary, evangelist of Upper California, Brother Juniper Serra.
He founded the first mission in San Diego de Alcala in 1769 and eight other missions, that gave start to big cities like San Diego or San Francisco.
