Restoration of Hangar One

view map

Built in the 1930's to house the naval airship USS Macon.

It is a massive free standing structure.

Google, who runs the airfield, is responsible for the removal of toxic materials and for re-skinning the Hangar. Due to be completed by 2025.

Google runs an airfield too... I learned something new today.

it looks ona similar scale to the airship hangar in Tillamook, although different in design... in the 1930s there was likely not the same knowledge regarding toxic materials..
