backwards

near Hill City, South Dakota

puffing through the Ponderosa pines is the '1880s Train', along a line laid down to serve mining and timber interests in the Black Hills...the romance of the old train was somewhat lessened by the fact that the steam locomotive was running backwards at this point

Ah, the romance of steam. But I wager they set that beaut forest on fire from time to time.

Great capture, romance prevails, even backwards.

Winding through the trees!
I love everything about trains and this is such a compelling photograph!

Looking great David.

It is interesting it is moving backwards. I like the lines leading to the train and how it is framed by the trees. V

Don't you hate it when that happens?

I think it looks pretty great coming out of the wooded area. I like the red cars it's pulling along. That smoke makes the scene.
Dennis Hoyne02-Jul-2023 17:10
The green vegetation, the red cars and smoke make this fine scene.
Marcia Rules02-Jul-2023 16:21
The greenery and slight mist are a fine addition to the scene. It is well-placed!

Quite an attractive composition, although it's interesting that the train was running backwards.

Even backwards, it still looks great. Great placement of the train in your composition to take advantage of the track as a great set of leading lines or curves, anyway. ~BV~
