Saprobic on decorticate downed Alnus. Apothecia (fruiting bodies) numerous and tiny, mostly <1mm. A member of the Ascomycte Orbiliaceae family known for being Nematophagous, meaning carnivores of Nematodes. Their mycelium has developed a number of ways of trapping Nematodes by means of sticky knobs, binding mycelial loops, or an adhesive cellular layer. They then secrete enzymes to digest the Nematode extracellularly and absorb the liberated juices
