More router story. The one that got installed had only two ethernet ports. That doesn't work for us. We have two computers and an NAS (network attached storage). The solution was simple. A trip to Best Buy and VOILA, a Linksys 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch joined the array of networking gear up there on the shelf.
Installing the ethernet switch was a snap. Plug and play. Couldn't be simpler. I was thinking back to the days when networking was done with a telephone line. I got a Hayes Smartmodem 1200 and I was in business. Well not exactly. It took a lot of time resetting DIP switches and restarting the computer (remember rebooting from a floppy?) Of course the effort was worth it.
