I bought this bulb in the Fall of 2021, but it never produced any flowers in 2021 or 2022. However, this May, I got the above surprise. I never do anything special to try to get my Amaryllis to bloom. I merely water. After they are finished blooming, I let the leaves grow. Without my help, the plants then do whatever Nature tells them to do. That has always worked for me.
However, if you read about Amaryllis bulbs, there are specific instructions about how to force them to bloom for a second or third time. When I tried that years ago, the bulbs gave up the ghost & just died. On the other hand, when left alone, about 50% will produce flowers on their own in May. That 50% rises to 100% if a year of flowering is missed. Anyhow, the above flower comes as a pleasant surprise. Because it hadn't previously bloomed for me, I'd never seen this variety before. It's very pretty in real life and the flowers are huge.
