One of some pictures of this tower that, according to a text provided, was once in the sea, but when the coastline was filled with soil, it was on land. On older pictures one can see cars speeding by on a side where there now are a relaxed park and pedestrian grounds. The coastal road is now more to the south. Nearby (and shown on some pictures) are the southernmost parts of the Theodosian Walls (a flag on their last bastion). The text just mentioned also indicates that claims that the tower is from the 8th-12th period it is more probably built when Sultan Beyazit I in the 14th century threatened the Byzantine capital.
