Gate To The Fortress Churchyard

Arta, Mallorca, Spain

The Church of the Savior (Eglesia de Sant Salvador) was built in 1825-1832 at the site of the 13th century church, burnt after being used as an epidemic hospital for bubonic plague victims in 1820.
The epidemic killed over 1200 people.
The church is dedicated to the Mare de Deu de Sant Salvador, the patron saint of Arta since 1922.
