The Bunker Hill Covered BridgeCovered Bridge

Claremont, North Carolina

The Bunker Hill Covered Bridge was constructed in 1895 and is the only remaining example of an Improved Lattice Truss Timber Bridge designed by Gen. Herman Haupt. Gen. Haupt patented this type of bridge design in 1839. When recently traveling in North Carolina I saw a sign for this historic bridge and having extra time before I needed to be at my destination, I decide get off the highway and explore this site. My biggest disappointment was the damage done by graffiti on this bridge. I can not understand why anyone would want to harm any type of historic site.

Impressive work with effective vintage tones adding to the charm of this iconic bridge........the defacement was a blight on its historical significance and it's a reminder of the need to respect and preserve our heritage for future generations to appreciate....V

Very well captured, Dave. The tones are excellent to hide some of the graffiti, it is a shame that people do not respect things of history.V!!

Very effective treatment for this historic bridge, looking like a photo taken a century ago. Definitely a shame about graffiti on the bridge, though. V.
