As I said below, we did photograph a few of the orchids that we thought were particularly beautiful. I must say that Tim has an outstanding closeup lens on his iPhone, which my older model does not, although it’s not bad, either.

We went to see the US Botanic Garden’s temporary exhibit, “Discover the World of Orchids,” on Sunday. We were hoping it would be similar to an exhibit they co-sponsored at the Hirschhorn Museum in 2017 that I photographed extensively https://pbase.com/helenpb/america_return_washington_orchids but sad to say it wasn’t and was in fact a bit underwhelming. Orchids are beautiful, and there were a lot of plants on display, but they were for the most part pretty common varieties and were spread out here and there over the entire large conservatory. We did take a few pictures of flowers we particularly liked, but ran into a neighbor there who had the same opinion of the display – that it could have been a lot better.
