On 30 December 2015, Storm Frank hit Deeside, bringing a month’s worth of rainfall in just one day. The already saturated ground, alongside snowmelt, created conditions similiar to that of the Muckle Spate of 1829, once regarded as the most catastrophic flood event in modern Scottish history. The Cambus o'May suspension bridge was severely damaged in the runoff during the storm but happily has now been fully restored. It is hard to believe just how high the water levels were above the normal winter levels above. During the storm the levels encroached on the walkway and floating debris buckled the deck.
