The Red Junglefowl is the ancestor of the domestic chicken and is native to Southeast Asia.
It was introduced to the Hawaiian Islands around AD 500-700 by the Polynesians, for whom it was an important source of food.
Pure wild Junglefowl is now relatively rare, having interbred with domestic
chickens, most are hybrid descendants that wanders the parks and residential
areas causing some annoyance with their nocturnal crowing.
Nevertheless, they are beautiful to look at.
