We had an interesting day. Ginny had surgery at Texas Women's Hospital. Bottom line, everything went well and she is well on her way to recovery. We arrived very early at the hospital, got checked in then waited in a room for about three hours to get started. The operation took two hours and by 1:30 she was out of the recovery room and in her hospital room where I joined her.

So, what does a cheeseburger and fries have to do with it. There is a very good cafeteria at the hospital. While Ginny was in surgery I got a DIY salad which was good. After she got out of surgery she was very hungry (fasting for a day does it) and the food for the patients is ordered off the cafeteria menu. She got a big lunch which included a chicken Caesar salad, three yummy vegetables, garlic bread and chocolate ice cream for desert. She gobbled that down pronto. Beats hell out of the lime jello and stewed green beans we have had at other hospitals. For supper I went down to the cafeteria and ordered a cheeseburger and fries which I took back to the room. It was very good and only cost me $6.75. This was a pleasant surprise. In retrospect I think the quality and prices stem from the fact that most of the staff eats there. The hospital needed a quick, efficient and cost effective solution to feed everybody.

I stayed overnight on the couch. It was hard to sleep because the nursing staff came around every hour or so to check on Ginny and administer drugs. We are both glad this part of the adventure is over. My task for the next few weeks is to take care of her. Looking forward to it.
