Wine Centre
The set of buildings that make up the Estació Enològica de Reus are the work of Reus architect Pere Caselles and are an outstanding example of modernist industrial architecture. The Estació Enològica was born in the framework of the actions promoted after the phylloxera crisis. Although it was created in 1905 by royal order, it was not inaugurated until 1910. It was directed by Claudi Oliveras. When it was built it was the largest in the state and had the most modern technology and facilities. It was built on confiscated land from the convent of Sant Joan, as the seat of a National School of Agriculture. It currently depends on the Catalan Institute of Vine and Wine of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is one of the two oenological analysis stations in Catalonia, along with Vilafranca del Penedès. Part of the buildings is occupied by the Consell Comarcal del Baix Camp.
